Sandra Ann Lytle Carpenter, 66, of Old Fort, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at her home after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born in Marion on July 4, 1957 to the late Robert C. Lytle and Lucille Grindstaff Lytle.
Sandra was a part of Concord United Methodist Church for several years, and she later attended Old Fort United Methodist Church. She retired in 2010 from McDowell County Schools after thirty years of service.
She is survived by three siblings, Susan L. Bolick (Lynn), Robin L. Smith, and David R. Lytle (Loretta); one niece, Rylie L. Plaster (Matt) and their children, Mattie and Sam; and three nephews, Nathan R. Smith (Shelly), Dawson R. Lytle (Savannah), and Dylan R. Lytle (Chloe). She is also survived by her step son, Tim Carpenter; step grandchildren, Steve Wright and Kim Wright; and step great grandchildren, Maria and Cara Leon-Wright.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Carpenter; step daughter, Christy Carpenter; and brother-in-law, Terry Smith.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A graveside service will follow at Bethlehem Community Cemetery.
