Samuel Pittman of Morganton, NC, passed away Monday, September 07, 2020 at his residence.

 

Born in Mitchell County on May 25, 1929 to the late Joseph Pittman and Florence Eva Pendley Pittman.

 

Sam was known as a strong, hard-working man that loved the Lord, his family, and hunting. He was a simple, old-fashioned soul and loved time spent with his family, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Johnston Pittman; one son, Kelly Pittman; and nine siblings.

 

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Vicki Pittman Brown (Paul), Lori Pittman, and Shannon Pittman; a daughter-in-law, Jamie Pittman; one sister, Betty Ann Poteat; eight grandkids; three great grandkids; and one very special niece, Zeliah Swann.

 

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2020 in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service & Crematory at 2:00 p.m with Reverend Dean Owenby officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00. Interment will follow at Pendley Cemetery in Spruce Pine.
