     S. Truman Duncan, 77, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at UNC Health Blue Ridge in Morganton.

 

     Mr. Duncan was born in McDowell County, NC on August 22, 1945. He was the son of the late Samuel Rufus Duncan and Isabelle Turner Duncan. He was married to his wife of forty four years, Grace Nevada Duncan, who preceded him in death in 2009. Mr. Duncan was an avid fan of NASCAR and ACC college basketball. He was a very honest man of good ethics and was a wonderful husband, daddy, brother, and Papa. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.

 

     In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by his birth mother, Louise Turner Duncan; a sister, May Ann Wilson; and a brother, Bill Parker.

 

     Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Peggy Pitman (Alan) and Olivia Wan (Peter); two sisters, Peggy Casey and Donna Shuffler; five brothers, Robert Parker (Nancy), Butch Parker (Shirley), Roger Parker (Trish), Paul Miller, and Joe Miller (Daphney); a grandson, Zachary Wan; and numerous nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.

 

     A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2023, at McDowell Memorial Park.

 

     Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 374 Hudlow Rd, Forest City, NC 28043.
