Russell McDaniel

On Tuesday, June 15, 2021, Mr. Russell Eugene McDaniel, 79, of Marion, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord at his residence. He was born in Rutherford County on October 12, 1941 to Clover Elliott McDaniel and the late Grady Clarence McDaniel. Eugene was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, where he served as the sound director for over 50 years as well as in many other capacities in the church. Known as a hard-working man, he was an avid gardener who enjoyed the outdoors. He had a special passion for hunting, fishing, beekeeping, and working in his yard. Most of all, he loved his Lord and spending time with family. Eugene was greatly loved and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a brother, Dale McDaniel. Those left to cherish his precious memories are his wife of 60 years, Della Mae Worley McDaniel; two children, Morris Russell McDaniel and Tina Eileen Nichols; five grandchildren, Brian McDaniel (Kaitlyn Hively), Brent Nichols (Kaitlyn), Katelyn McDaniel, Courtney McDaniel, and Blake Nichols (Makayla Stevens); and two siblings, Reid McDaniel (Esther) and Beatrice Bright (Johnny). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Tom Walker and Mr. Paul Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church.
