Ruby Kirkland Welch, loving mother, grandmother and sister, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Catawba Valley Hospice House in Newton, North Carolina. The daughter of the late Oscar and Eva Woody Kirkland, Ruby was born in Swain County, North Carolina on November 1, 1933.
Ruby’s loving husband of 68 years, Ray Welch, who passed away on October 6, 2017, preceded her in death.
A member of Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church, Mrs. Welch enjoyed working in her flower gardens.
She is survived by four children, Lloyd Welch and his wife, Nancy, Robbin Silvers and her husband, Jerry, Ray Jackson Welch, Jr. and his wife, Angie and Keshia McKinney; one sister, Roxie Gunter; one brother, Dennis Kirkland and his wife, Pat; and eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, March 26, 2018 between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Welch residence, 6906 Harmony Grove Road in Nebo.
A private entombment will be held at McDowell Memorial Park.
