Ruby Louise Helton McPeters of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center.
She was born in Polk County on March 26 to the late Preston Helton and Bessie Hopson Helton.
Ruby worked at Coats America before becoming employed at Baxter Healthcare where she later retired. She was a strong woman and a dedicated Christian. She was a member of Cornerstone Church of God and Landmark Baptist Church. Ruby was taught from an early age to save and look ahead, and she maintained these principles through her entire life. She loved animals and was gifted with sewing, quilting, and making dolls. Ruby was also a three time cancer survivor.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Johnny McPeters and Tim McPeters; her siblings, Clarence Helton, Sonny Helton, Pete Helton, Bill Helton, Hazel Lister, and Jennie Maney; and her half-siblings, Jake, Helen, and Lucille.
Those left to cherish her precious memories are two children, Joey McPeters (Amy) and Judy Lavender (Danny); daughter-in-law, Rachel McPeters; six grandchildren, Kisa Lavender, Eric Lavender, Amelia Jones (Dustin), Nicole Smith (Scott), Chad McPeters (Valerie), and Candi Thompson (Neil); and seven great grandchildren, Austin Johnson, Liam Jones, Allie Thompson, Raegan Thompson, Josephine McPeters, Isabell McPeters, and Conrad McPeters.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with the Rev. Chris Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
