Ruby Davenport

Mrs. Ruby Owenby Davenport, age 93, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Ruby was born in Macon Co., NC on October 1, 1924 to the late Lester and Nola Shields Owenby. She was a longtime member of the Catawba Heights Baptist Church. Known to be a hard worker she retired following more than forty years of service with Parker Hosiery Mill. She also enjoyed working in her garden and flowers. Ruby was a great cook, and she loved her family and friends.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Davenport was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Lee Davenport; sisters, Myrtle Dehart, Merle Lowery and Louise Owenby; brothers, Carl Owenby, Harold Owenby, Willard Owenby and Goldie Owenby.

Left to cherish Ruby’s memory are three sons; Guy Davenport (Patricia), Russell Davenport (Linda) and Steve Davenport (Linda); four grandchildren, Jeff Bost, Mitchell Davenport, Heather Watson and Wesley Davenport; and four great grandchildren, Jarod, Caleb, Camryn and Caden.

A funeral service will be held on Friday October 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Beam Funeral Service with the Reverends James Walker and Dean Owenby officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
