Ruby Mae Byas, age 84, of Marion, North Carolina, entered her eternal home on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville, with her loving family by her side. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born December 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Calvin and Sally Mae Bradshaw Gilliand.
Ruby, who enjoyed working outdoors, loved to visit different trade lots. She loved all her neighbors, her many friends, but the most important thing to her, was family.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her loving husband of 61 years, Charles P. Byas of the home; one son, Gary M. Byas and his wife, Cindy of Old Fort; two grandchildren, Ryan Byas (Autumn) and Heather Foster (Jason); and two great grandchildren, Ella Foster and Fern Foster. She is also survived by her little cat, CoCo.
A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Story Memorial PCA Church with Pastor Matt Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
