Roxie Pyatt

Roxie Hollifield Pyatt, age 82, loving wife, mother and grandmother, while surrounded by her loving family, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 08, 2017 while at Autumn Care of Marion.  Born in Madison County, North Carolina on May 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Obe and Sallie Hensley Hollifield. 

Roxie, who was known by her family as “Mama”, enjoyed flowers, gardening and crocheting, but most of all, taking care of her family.  She was a member of West Marion Baptist Church, but most recently had been attending Garden Creek Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Frank Andrew Pyatt; and two brothers, Stanley and Joe Hollifield. 

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Johnnie G. Pyatt; one son, Glenn Pyatt (Kathy); one daughter, Martha Dorsey (Tommy); four grandchildren, Whitney Pyatt, Caitlin Pyatt, Tyler Dorsey and T.J. Dorsey (Margaret); and four great grandchildren, Emily Feaster, Amaris Dorsey, Alleora Dorsey and Ethaniel Dorsey.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Coy Jeans and Dr. Larry Gregg officiating.  Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the church.
