In the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 12, 2021, Rosa Lavada Davis Gibson, age 91, of Weaverville, North Carolina, crossed over into her Heavenly home while at the Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation in Weaverville. A native of Buncombe County, North Carolina, she was born on April 28, 1930 and was the daughter of the late William J and Lizzie Kate Buckner Davis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Dean” Gibson, who passed away in 1989; one daughter, Shirley Smith; one son, Gary Gibson; one grandson, David Smith; and eight siblings.
An amazing, loving and caring mother and “nanny”, Rosa enjoyed working on puzzles and reading, but most of all, she loved her family.
Left to cherish her precious memories are four children, Brenda Shelton, Joan McKinney (Will), Larry Gibson and Carolyn Marvulli; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Marion with Pastor Steve Bugenhagen, Jr. officiating.
