Ronald Russell Medders, Sr.

Ronald Russell Medders, Sr., 88, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.

He was born in Anniston, Alabama on July 14, 1934 to the late William Russell Medders and Jewel Snow Medders.

Ron was a 1961 graduate of North Carolina State University. He remained an avid fan of the Wolfpack his whole life. He was co-founder of McDowell Mission Ministries and conducted bible studies in the local prison for many years. Ron retired from Coats America as a technical superintendent after 14 years. He was an avid golfer and faithful Christian. Ron was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Bolaños Medders; two children; Rusty Medders and wife, Beth and Ronda Parker and husband, Dean of Michigan; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Marion with Rev. Rob Warren officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
