Roby Lee Sutton

Roby Lee Sutton, 79, of Old Fort, went to be with the Lord on the evening of Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native of Marion, Lee was born August 15, 1944 to the late Roby YJ Sutton and Dorothy Elizabeth Parker Sutton.

Lee was a math teacher before beginning a career in the furniture business. He retired as Plant Manager from Broyhill Furniture. He later taught math again at McDowell High School. Lee enjoyed staying busy whether it was in his woodshop or in the garden he grew each year. He was very proud of the home he had remodeled with the help of his wife. He truly loved his family and was heavily involved in their lives. He was a faithful member of the Marion Church of Christ where he served as a song leader and in other roles as well.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Sigmon Sutton; four children, Jody Whisenant, Tracey Cook, Kelly Sutton (Rick), and Bryan Sutton; two granddaughters, Rachael Malone (Gavyn) and Emma Sutton; and his three brothers, Jerry Sutton (Linda), Carl Sutton (Ramona), and Bob Sutton (Dana).

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Minister Paul Balch officiating. Burial will follow at the Dysartsville Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
