Robert Clifton Swafford, 54, of Lake Lure, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 at his residence.
A native of McDowell County, he was born on September 10, 1966 to the late Somey and Charlotte Wright Swafford.
Robert will be remembered as being a phenomenal cook. He enjoyed Dr. Who and was a music lover. An avid Duke fan, he could be hard-headed at times. He truly loved kids, and they loved him back. He was also known as being a “warehouse of useless knowledge.” Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force as a data analyst. Most of all, he truly loved his Lord.
In addition to his parents, he is greeted in heaven by two children, Sidney and Tomas; and two brothers, Jeff and Ronnie Swafford.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Melanie Deville Swafford; a sister, Cathy Blake and husband Larry; a sister-in-law, Donna Swafford; a sister, April Seaman; a brother, Alan Swafford; and a sister, Amy Parker and husband Josh; special in-laws, Georgia Johnson, Dannette Barros and husband Dalmo, and Neil Deville; brothers by heart, Ben Deas, Shane Coore, Chris Jenkins, Ernest Scott, and Josh Carpenter; nieces and nephews, Scott, Chris, Jodie, Larry, Casey, Richie, Bryant, Jessica, Logan, Jordan, Timmy, Jacob, Mariana, Renata, Luciana, Gabriela, Andre, Anna Marie, Tiler; numerous great nieces and nephews; and their two special fur babies, Ella and Luna.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Ted Blankenship officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 prior to the service. A private interment will take place at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
