Robert Vance Snypes, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Rosehill Retirement Community in Marion. A native of McDowell County, he was born to the late Marion Vance Snypes and Mae Nanney Snypes.
Robert was retired from the Nebo Post Office after 32 years of service as a rural letter carrier. His life was dedicated to his family and home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice Fox Snypes; sisters Alva Snypes, Helen Rhinehart, and Mable James; and brothers, Burley Snypes and William L. Snypes.
Surviving Mr. Snypes are his wife, Joann Price Snypes; daughter, Elaine Snypes; son, Alan Snypes (Wendy); and two granddaughters, Ashley and Courtney. Also surviving are his step-daughter, Marilyn Hartis Franquiz; three step-sons, Gary Hartis (Brenda), Randy Hartis (Carol) and Craig Hartis (Joni); six step grandchildren, Ashley, Laura, Brett, Adam, Lindsay, and Taylor; one great granddaughter, Collins; and two step great grandsons, Trait and David. Mr. Snypes is also survived by a brother, Hensley Snypes; and a sister Nona Suiter.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Snypes will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Nebo First Baptist Church at 3:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service, at the church. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, the First Baptist Church of Nebo’s Building Fund at 5360 US Highway 70 East, Nebo, North Carolina 28761.
