Robert Wayne Lewis (Wink)

Robert Wayne Lewis, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, age 77, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville, with his loved ones by his side.  A native of McDowell County, born December 14, 1942, he was the son of the late Bis Ray and Georgia Kelly Lewis. 

An avid woodworker, Wayne was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Old Fort. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 ½ years, Connie Benfield Lewis; one son, Tony Lewis (Lisa); two daughters, Lynn Freeman (Randy) and Melissa Miller (Mark); two brothers, Ray Lewis and Jerry Lewis; and two sisters, Jeanette Hensley and Bobbie Holley.  Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, James Freeman, Casey Lewis, Brandon Freeman, Cameron Lewis, Adam Miller, Luke Lewis and Anna Miller; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A service to celebrate the life of Wayne will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Pastor David Hawkins officiating.  Interment will follow at Lewis Cemetery in Old Fort.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service, at the church.
