Robert Lee Fullwood, age 90, of Nebo, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024 at Deer Park Health and Rehabilitation.
A native of McDowell County, Rob was born May 5, 1934 to the late William Harvey Fullwood and Mary Etta Hardy Fullwood. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Minnie Belle Tate; and a nephew, William “Eddie” Tate.
Rob graduated from Olive Hill High School in Morganton where he played sports. He later worked in textiles, and he also prepared taxes for a period of time. Rob was an avid outdoorsman. His family lovingly says he was an “unofficial park ranger!” He loved music, and during his later years that he spent at Deer Park, he faithfully participated in activities such as arts and crafts, BINGO, and playing cards. Rob loved the Lord and was a member of St. John AME Church where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed having fun, and he will be remembered for always greeting others with a smile and laughter. His trademark was his unique sense of humor. Rob loved his family, and he was loved by all. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by two nieces, Barbara Pearson (William) and Lynnette Jones; one nephew, Don Tate; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at St. John AME Church Cemetery.
