Robert Reid Dobson

Robert “Bob” “Pops” Reid Dobson, age 82, of Marion, NC passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at St. Joseph Campus in Asheville, NC.

Bob was born March 21, 1935 in McDowell County, NC to the late Joseph Dobson and Virginia Lonon Dobson.  He retired from Baxter Healthcare.  He enjoyed golf, fishing and NASCAR.  Bob was a fun-loving man with a great sense of humor!  He loved to make others laugh.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Banner Dobson and their son, Reid Dobson.

Left behind to cherish Bob’s memories are his wife of nine years, Patsy Elkins Hollifield; six children, Bobby Dobson (Glenda), Libby Dobson, Kerry Dobson, Jerry Dobson, Kim Dobson (Doc) and Janalisa Dobson Rhodes (Dave); two step-children, Kimberly Ledford (John) and Michael Hollifield; thirteen grandchildren, Josh (Val), Jeremy (April), Charlie (Kristin), Zack (Elizabeth), Derrick (Krystal), Jayce, Dusty (Annie), Lilly, Holly, Daniel, April, Kyle and Cassie; two step-grandchildren, Adrienne and Isaiah; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Don Dobson (Linda).

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory.  A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Bobby Dobson and Josh Dobson officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Ballew Cemetery.
