Robert "Bob" MacKinnon

April 30, 1956 — April 7, 2019

 

Robert “Bob” MacKinnon, age 62, of the Pleasant Gardens Community, while surrounded by his loved ones, passed away on the evening of Sunday, April 7, 2019 at his residence. Born in Ionia, Michigan on April 30, 1956, he was the son of the late William and Barbara Russell MacKinnon. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert “Robby” James MacKinnon II.

 

Bob, who was known for his Hawaiian shirts and his contagious laugh and smile, was a member of Marion Lake Club for 35 years where he enjoyed golfing.  He was also a member of The City Club and attended Grace Community Church. Following many years, he had retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections. Bob also owned and operated Mulligan Mack’s After 5 in Marion and Mr. Wizard Pressure Cleaning. Bob was always happy and loved to socialize, and above all he loved his family.

 

He is survived by two sons, Corey James MacKinnon (Elizabeth) and Nicholas James MacKinnon (Sarah); one brother, William Cecil MacKinnon, Jr.; one sister, Elizabeth MacKinnon Townsend (Scott); three grandchildren, Hudson Charles MacKinnon and Camden James MacKinnon and Mason James MacKinnon; and one niece, Katie Townsend, one nephew, Kevin Townsend and one great nephew Nolan Townsend.  Bob is also survived by special friends, Deb and Todd Wines; his “golfing buddies”; and many friends he met while operating Mulligan Mack’s After 5.

 

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
