Robert “Bob” Cossey, loving and caring husband, father, grandpa and friend, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Givens Estates in Asheville following a four-year courageous battle with Parkinson’s.  His loving family was by his side.  Born in Hobart, Oklahoma on October 16, 1941, he was the son of the late Shirley Joe Cossey and Mary Ehrhart Cossey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Sue Roberts.

Bob, who enjoyed fishing, golfing and photography, was a car enthusiast and lived life to the fullest. He always found that being with his family, especially his grandkids, was the greatest enjoyment and brought joy to his heart.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Morganton.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 58 years, Sharon Cossey; two daughters, Deauna Myers (Trish) of Old Fort, North Carolina and Rhonda Chambers (Doug) of Culpeper, Virginia; five grandchildren, Shawn Myers (Sarah), Sara Myers (Donovan), Steven Myers (Kathryn), Matthew Chambers (Keilah) and Michael Chambers (Kasey); and five great grandchildren with one on the way.  Bob is also survived by his childhood/best friend and brother-in-law, Laymon Roberts; nieces, Kasie Hill and Kimberly Greer; and nephew, Michael Stewart.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Mr. Craig Spearman officiating.  The family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.

A private interment will be held at Bethlehem Community Cemetery in Old Fort.
