Rita Mitchell Myers, 83, of Granite Falls, formerly of Old Fort, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.
Rita was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia on February 5, 1941, to the late Lawrence Mitchell and Ann Clem Mitchell. She was married to her husband of 63 years, Patrick A. Myers. Rita retired after many years of dedicated cafeteria service in the Volusia County, Florida school system. In North Carolina, she was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church and volunteered at the Senior Centers of Old Fort and Marion. Rita enjoyed playing cards and loved to cook. Her life was centered around her family. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by three sisters, Patty, Emma Mae, and Joanne; and a granddaughter, Brittany Myers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Patrick A. Myers; three children, Frances Scott (George), Terry Harshman (Doug), and Patrick A. Myers, Jr. (Amy); four sisters, Eloise Hamilton (Ed), Della Roush (Homer), Peggy Kuchenrither (Larry), and Nancy Kidd (Herschel); two brothers, Ronnie Mitchell and Harold Mitchell (Missy); fourteen grandchildren, Angel Knapp, Brooklyn Knapp, Alley Knapp, Amber Evans, Jeremiah Harshman, Lucas Tripplet, Melissa Harshman, Charlie Scott, Matthew Scott, Katlyne Harshman, Brandon Myers, Adelaide Harshman, Cameron Piscitello, and Delayne Harshman; and three great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
