A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Rita had retired as treasurer and secretary of the church. She proudly assisted in the food pantry, and at one time was a member of the choir. In her spare time Rita enjoyed volunteering with the American Red Cross and loved to read and crochet.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Fred Guffey; and one brother, Thomas B. Toth.
Left to cherish her memories are six children, Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Ehrhart (Joseph) of Spring City, Pennsylvania, Fred Guffey (Jan) of Mineville, New York, William Guffey (Cheryl) of Royersford, Pennsylvania, Andrea Guffey of Nebo, North Carolina, Sandra Guffey of High Point, North Carolina and Patricia Webb (Kevin) of Advance, North Carolina; one brother Francis Toth; seven grandchildren, Megan, Winter, “A.J”, Amanda, Elliott, Hannah and Sherrilynn; and four great grandchildren, Chase, Kylie, Grayson and Cecilia. She is also survived by two special cousins, John and James Miller; and two special friends, June Matzik and Mary Rossi.
A celebration of Rita’s life, along with her 83rd birthday, will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Pastor Donald Morrison officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
There will also be a gathering of family and friends held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Nebo.
