Ricky Nelson Whitson, born on February 7, 1960, in Erwin, Tennessee, passed away on February 19, 2025. He "walked" into Heaven, leaving behind a legacy of love, humor, and resilience. Ricky was a retired truck driver, having dedicated many years to a profession that took him on extensive journeys across the country. His career came to a close when health challenges made it difficult for him to continue driving.
Ricky was known for his wonderful sense of humor, a quality that endeared him to many. Even during difficult times, he exhibited a remarkable positivity, never succumbing to complaints about his circumstances. This humor, combined with his warm heart, served as a comforting presence to his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Dorotha "Dot" Whitson, and his sisters, Judy Whitson and Sandy Whitson Hall, along with her husband John and brother-in-law Randy Kilgore. Ricky cherished his nieces Amanda Kilgore and Tiffany Hall. He was also a proud great uncle to Bradley Branton Jr. and a special friend, Scott Stroud (Karen).
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Lee Whitson, along with his daughter, Shelby Lee Whitson, and his sister Angy Kilgore, as well as nephews Brad Branton and Todd Branton. He also is reunited with his special friend Lester Fender in eternal peace.
In remembrance, family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory located at 2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, NC, on February 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
