Ricky Lee Ray

Ricky Lee Ray, age 54, of Nebo, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at his residence.  Born in Yancey County, North Carolina on March 3, 1964, he was the son of the late Wayne Edward Ray and Etrula Mae Strickland Lowe.

He was preceded in death by, in addition to his parents, two brothers, Duane Ray and Dennis Ray; and one sister, Sylvia Ray.

A member of Eastfield Independent Baptist Church in Marion, Ricky enjoyed canning vegetables and loved to build and sell birdhouses. 

He is survived by his stepfather, Roger Lowe; four sisters, Sharon Crowder, Lisa McKinney, Jeannie Phillips and Shelley Ray; three brothers, Vince Ray, Eric Houck and Terry Haney; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Ralph Shuffler officiating.  Interment will follow at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
