Richard "Leon" Stroupe

Richard “Leon” Stroupe, 61, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, March 02, 2022 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

He was born in Buncombe County on February 23, 1961 to the late William Franklin Stroupe and Betty Craig Stroupe. He is also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gerald Trivett.

Leon was a great father and brother who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and fishing, hunting, and camping. He was a wonderful cook and a talented artist. Leon had a special place in his heart for animals. He also enjoyed telling stories and was always smiling.

He is survived by his two children, Caleb Stroupe (Valesca) and Megan Stroupe; three grandchildren, Mason, Maddox, and Tinley; three siblings, Larry Stroupe (Nadine), Leroy Stroupe (Jennie), and Lynn Trivett; and his special canine companion, Buddy.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 08, 2022 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A private burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
