Richard Dean Roland

Richard Dean Roland, age 53, of Nebo, NC passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 2, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Roland was born December 16, 1964 in Virginia Beach, VA to Kitty Marie Robinson Roland of Nebo and to the late John J. Roland.  He was an excellent mechanic and could work on anything with wheels.  He had a 1971 Torino that was “his baby”.  His greatest fear, to his family’s amusement, was snakes.  Mr. Roland loved his wife, his children and his grandchildren with everything in him.  He will forever be remembered for being loving and kind and having a heart of gold. 

In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Lawrence Roland.

Left behind to cherish Mr. Roland’s memories are his beloved wife of 11 years, Amber Gay Roland; three children, Jackie Norton of Chickasha, OK, Richard Roland of Lindsay, OK and Zachary Roland and wife, Jessica of Marion, NC; four grandchildren, Peyton, Layla, Justin and Micayla Roland; three siblings, Kathy Boufford and husband, Phillip of Morganton, NC, Sharon Brickhouse of Nebo, NC and Johnny Roland and wife, Margaret of Raleigh, NC; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Calvin and Patty Gilliland. 

The family would like to say “Thank You” to Calvin and Patty Gilliland for the special love and care shown to Mr. Roland during his illness.

The family will receive friends to celebrate Mr. Roland’s life from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory.
