Richard "Rick" Leon Truitt

Richard “Rick” Leon Truitt, age 60, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville.  Born in Murphy, North Carolina on October 10, 1955, he was the son of the late Jerry and Francis Gibson Truitt.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Rick had worked for Sara Lee and Ohio Electric Motors.  A man who loved everything and everyone, especially his family and animals, Rick enjoyed traveling and was known to strike up a conversation with anyone, therefore, never meeting a stranger.  He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.

Rick leaves behind his loving wife of 29 years, Jeanne Durham Truitt; one son, Joshua Wells and his wife, Hannah; two daughters, Katie Truitt and Alea Truitt; four siblings, Joyce Diane Jones and her husband, Charles, Tom Truitt and his wife, Cara, Charlene Duvall and Pat Holloway; two grandchildren, Lily Monosso and Winnie Wells.  He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews; and father-in-law, Charles Lee Durham.

A service to celebrate the life of Rick will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church in Marion with Pastor John Gaylord officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy. 

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
