Rex Blane Hamlin

On the morning of Friday, April 8, 2022, Rex Blane Hamlin went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Asheville, N.C. on January 23, 1959 to the late Hannibal Hamlin and Patricia Conner. He was also predeceased by his in-laws, Jack and Carolyn Springer.

Rex was a devoted husband, loving father and long time YMCA basketball and handball player. He worked as a barber/hairstylist for forty-four years in the Asheville area. His devotion for the Lord was always evident through his easy going, fun loving and joking spirit.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of thirty-eight years, Kelly Springer Hamlin; one daughter, Jessica Hamlin (fiancé Brian Underwood); one sister, Renee Rhoads (Chris); two sisters-in-law, Dana Howell and Darcy Springer; four nieces, Jaime Carr, Jodi Taylor, Retta Jane Rico and Laura Ashley Rhoads and two nephews, Bryan Rico and Clayton Rico.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Grassy Branch Baptist Church in Asheville with Reverend Charlie Sams officiating.
