Rev. Warren N. Owens, 61, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 01, 2021 at his residence following his morning sermon titled “Bread of Life.”
He was born in Rutherford County on December 31, 1959.
Rev. Owens was the current pastor of First United Methodist Church of Marion where he had served for the past 6 years. He graduated from High Point University in 1982 and from the Institute of Textile Technology in 1984.In 2003, Rev. Owens received his Master of Divinity from Duke University. Having served as a Methodist minister for 22 years, he previously worked in the carpet industry.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 37 years, Tracey Stout Owens; his son, Samuel Warren Owens; his parents, Rev. Ned and Melissa Owens; two sisters, Audrey Brooks (Brian) and Michelle Alston (Mike); his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronnie and Glenda Stout; a sister-in-law, Ronda Branson (Alan); and six nieces and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 05, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Marion with Revs. Mark Ralls and Ned Owens officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, August 07, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 5721 Methodist Road, Greensboro, NC 27406 with Rev. Joe Essick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rev. Owens’ memory to the First United Methodist Church of Marion Emergency Fund, 176 Robert Street, Marion, NC 28752, or to the Tabernacle United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 5721 Methodist Road, Greensboro, NC 27406.
