Rev. Tommy Hensley, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 26, 2017 at his home in Nebo. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born November 02, 1935, he was the son of the late Fred and Ruby Hensley.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and pastor, Rev. Hensley proudly served as the pastor for Redeemed Freewill Baptist Church in Marion for 22 years. He enjoyed traveling with his family to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.; and loved to go fishing with his grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gladys Hensley; four children, Theresa Beam (Joseph), Mike Hensley (Freda), Janet Mabe and Vicky Styles (Teddy); god daughter, Linda Robinson (Perry); one brother, Phillip Hensley; and one sister, Barbara Trotter (Jerry). Rev. Hensley is also survived by eight precious grandchildren and ten wonderful great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Redeemed Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. Jerry McClain, Ray Stockton and James Lane officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
