On Saturday, October 19, 2019 Rev. Ross Lewis, 72, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with lung disease. A pastor for 50 years, he faithfully preached the Word to those he pastored.
Ross was born to the late Sam and Liller Lewis in Marion, North Carolina. He was blessed with a loving wife and faithful caregiver in his illness, Brenda, of 53 years. He is survived by Brenda and their four children: Tim and wife Kelly; Jerry and wife Wendy; Greg and wife Nichole; and one daughter Mary Kay Wilson; grandchildren Caleb Lewis, Bethany Thomason and husband Alan, Juli Ledford and husband Jaken, Anna Brooke Lewis, Sydney Fox, Hannah Lewis and fiancée Micheal Thomas, Trent Lewis, Kristi Wilson, Jonah Stokely, Zech Stokely, Nathaniel Stokely, and Marianna Hudgins; great-grandchildren Layla Thomason, Berklee Ledford, and Brylee Ledford. He is also survived by his brother Harold and wife Tilda Jane, his sister Joann Edwards and husband Buddy. He was preceded in death by his beloved canine companion, Puppy.
Ross loved young preachers and often gave them his pulpit before they were able to preach or pastor on their own. He spoke honestly with them, encouraging them in their ministry. Just as preachers had a special place in his heart, they will have a special seat at the service.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 26 from 11 am until the service hour at 2 pm, at West Court Baptist Church in Marion, North Carolina where he pastored for 14 years. Rev. Jeff Burchett and Rev. Dale Cable officiating. Burial will follow in the West Court Baptist Church Cemetery.
