Rev. Montie Ray Stockton of Marion, left his earthly home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 to enter into the arms of his Lord and Savior.
Ray was born in Erwin, Tennessee on August 7, 1946 to the late Rev. Arcemus Stockton and the late Georgia Hopson Stockton Lavender. Preceding him in death along with his parents and his first wife, Shirley Louise Stockton were his three siblings; J.W. Stockton, Joyce Stanfield, and Rev. Billy Dean Stockton.
He accepted his call to preach in 1978 and was truly dedicated to the Lord. Ray was the former pastor of Charity Hill FWB Church, Harmony FWB Church, Oak Hill FWB Church, Roan Street FWB Church and retired from Bethel FWB Church following twenty-eight years of service. He was the former mediator of the FWB Association. Ray truly loved Gospel singing and was in many groups over the years. He was dedicated to his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving Rev. Stockton are his wife, Jennie Williams Stockton; four children, Mike Stockton, Randy Stockton, Keith Stockton and daughter-in-love Cara, and Heather Radford and son-in-law Doolie; stepsons, Ricky Williams, and Ronnie Williams; sister-in-law, Verna Stockton; fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren with one on the way.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Bethel FWB Church. The Revs. Jerry McClain, Larry Anderson, and Jeff Boone will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 1:00 until 3:00. Burial will follow at Bethel FWB Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Street and Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff officiating.
