Rev. Preston Thomas

Preston Thomas III, age 64, passed away on Sunday, July 25,2021 at Cleveland Regional Hospital. He was born to the late Willard Preston Thomas II and Thurlene Jones Thomas, on April 18,1957, in McDowell County, North Carolina.

Preston served as a Methodist Pastor for over 22 years. He never met a stranger. He volunteered over 20 years at Camp Funshine, which is a free camp for special needs children and adults.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 38 years; Grace Thomas; three children, Pam Todd (Chris), Kendall Frye (Jamie) and Melissa Thomas; one brother, Robert Thomas (Tammy) and four grandchildren; Judas Todd, Norah Frye, Levi Frye and Benjamin Frye and a number of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday 3:00 p.m. at the Minneapolis Methodist Church, Avery County with the Reverend Jamie Shell and Brian Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Minneapolis Methodist Church. Interment will be held at the Minneapolis Methodist Church Cemetery.

Family requests that everyone wears a mask and adhere to social distancing.
