Rev. Michael Dean Zullo, born on August 20, 1951, in McDowell County, passed away peacefully on October 27 2024, at the WNC State Veterans Home. He was a devoted husband to the late Debra Minnish Zullo, and together they shared a life filled with love and faith.
Rev. Zullo dedicated sixteen years of his life as the pastor of Amazing Grace Baptist Church, where he touched many lives with his sermons and service to others. Most recently, he was a cherished member of the Harvest Time Baptist Church. His unwavering faith and commitment to serving others were evident in both his ministry and service to the McDowell County Pregnancy Care Center Board, where he continually sought to help those in need.
As a proud US Army Veteran, Rev. Zullo exemplified the values of service and dedication. He will be remembered fondly not only for his steadfast faith but for his love of family. He held his wife and Lord in the highest regard, and throughout his life, he created cherished memories with his family, especially his grandchildren. Rev. Zullo enjoyed attending sporting events, and relishing the time spent with loved ones.
He is survived by his son, Michael Jason Zullo and his wife Rachel; his daughter, Jessica Ashley Zullo and her fiancé Davon; his brother, Teddy Zullo; his sisters, Molly Koone, Dee Dee Davis, Susan Adkins and Bobby Benge; and his brothers, Donald Ost, and Billy Wolaska. He also leaves behind a loving legacy through his grandchildren, Megan, Izabella, Abram, Hattie, Samuel, and Mason, as well as a great-grandson, Waylon; special sister-in-law, Karen Denise Hunter.
Rev. Zullo was preceded in death by his father, Michael John Zullo; his mother, Dorothy McCoyle Ost; and brothers Jerry Ost and Perry Ost.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory, located at 2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, NC 28752. A funeral service will follow, beginning at 3:00 with Rev. Trent McKeehan officiating. Burial will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Rev. Michael Dean Zullo's impact on his community and family will be felt for generations to come, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
