Rev. John Wesley Mann, age 89, of Marion, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord on the evening of Monday, November 25, 2019 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville. His loving family was by his side. Born in Cocke County, Tennessee on May 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Jesse and Zola Romine Mann.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Mann was also preceded in death by his four sisters and three brothers.
A member of Valley Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Black Mountain, Rev. Mann lived, not only for his family, but for the Lord. He ministered for many years at several churches throughout the area.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Inez Mann of the home; five daughters, Bernice Mann, Charlene Gouge, Wanda Boone, Susan Smith (Ricky) and Joyce Burnette, all of Marion; nine grandchildren, Sherry McMahan, Michelle Taylor, Travis Boone (Kristi), Derrick Boone (Catherine), Jody Trantham, Ricky Smith, Jr., Chad Smith (Kati), JJ Burnette (Morgan) and Kelsie Riddle; fifteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Rev. Mann will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Russell Wheeler and Rev. Archie Cook officiating. Interment will be held at Glenwood Cemetery.
