Rev. James Logan Lane

Reverend James Logan Lane, age 97, of Marion, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Memorial Campus. He was born in McDowell County on July 21, 1924 to the late George and Effie Lane.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Marie Lane; siblings, Virgil Lane and Marie Greene.

James was a charter member of Redeemed Free Will Baptist Church, and retired from Collins and Aikman. Following retirement, he answered the call into the ministry and served over thirty-two years as a pastor. He founded and pastored Sunnyview Free Will Baptist Church in Old Fort for over thirteen years. He was a United States Army veteran. James was a very kind, honest man and was known as a wonderful neighbor.

James is survived by Betty Miller (Larry), who he thought of as his daughter; Larissa “Sissy” Honeycutt (Travis), Todd Miller (Amy), who he thought of as his grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverend Jerry McClain officiating. A receiving of friends will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at McDowell Memorial Park.
