Rev. Claude C. Gouge, age 66, of Marion, while surrounded by his loving family and friends, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 06, 2017 at his residence. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born February 05, 1951, he was the son of the late Fulton and Selma Pack Gouge. Claude was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Ellis and a niece Kim Perkins.
Having been an ordained Baptist Minister for 21 years; Rev. Gouge retired from Baxter’s Healthcare after 33 years of service. He had also served in the prison ministry for over 20 years; and was the owner of Silverstone Fabrication, where he invented the MotorMate. A charter member of Clear Water Bass Masters Association, he was also a member of Turkey Cove Baptist Church. Rev. Gouge was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Audrey J. Gouge; one son, Richard Gouge (Tammy); one daughter, Carrie Robinson (Sam); Bryan Silvers and Kevin Glenn, who Claude thought of as his adopted son’s; two sisters, Anita Dulaney (J.D.) and Anna McKinney (John); three grandchildren, Austin Robinson, Isaiah Robinson and Andrew Robinson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 08, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory in Marion.
A funeral service to honor the life of Rev. Gouge will be held on Saturday, September 09, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Turkey Cove Baptist Church with Rev. David Edwards officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the United States Army, will follow in the church cemetery.
