Rev. Beauford Brown, 66, of Hickory, went home to be with the Lord, on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at his residence.
Beauford was born in Long Island, New York on July 2, 1958, to the late Kenneth Dwyer and Sarah Mae Brown. He served his country proudly in the United States Army and was a correctional officer at the Foothills Correctional Institute in Morganton, where he advanced to a Program Supervisor and served as Captain of the Honor Guard. He later retired as a Program Director 1 at Gaston Correctional Center. He pastored Mt. Zion AME Zion Church in Cullowhee, St. Paul AME Zion Church in Forest City, Union Hill AME Zion Church in Union Mills, Pharr Chapel AME Zion Church in Old Fort, and was Chief of Protocol for the Blue Ridge Conference and Hendersonville districts. For many years, Beauford was a youth basketball referee in Morganton and was a part time instructor for continuing education at Western Piedmont Community College. Throughout the years, Rev. Brown touched the hearts of many. He will always be loved and missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Nelson Brown; and a grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Logan-Brown; a daughter, Lashawn Williams (Anson); four sons, Darron Brown, Devon Brown, Landis Brown (Stacey), and Tavaris Brown; a brother, William Brown; nine grandchildren, Brittany Belle, Anthony Belle, JaLiyah Brown, Kayana Brown, Donovan Williams, Jaden Williams, Dakota Brown, Liam Brown, and Zane Brwon; three great grandchildren, Isabelle Belle, Remmi Belle, and Christopher Dewitt; two aunts, Mary Miller and Alberta Hunt; an uncle, Forrest Brown; his father of ministry, Rev. Samuel O. Richardson; his closest friends, Ms. Rosetta Ferguson, Rev. John Mitchell, Tracy Miller, and Joan Forbey; numerous cousins; and numerous family members in New York and Bostic, NC.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Beam Celebration Center. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the celebration center. Funeral honors will be rendered by the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections Honor Guard.
