Rene grew up on Long Island, NY with his sister playing on the streets of his most cherished block JRS. If you know him, you know. He graduated Longwood High school in 1989 and joined the US Navy soon after. He was stationed in Long Beach, CA on the USS Jarrett and served in the Persian Gulf War earning many decorated ribbons and medals including the Battle E ribbon, SW Asia service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal to name a few. He served his country for 6 years until his honorable discharge in March of 1997 meeting lifelong friends he considered family. Soon after he met and fell in love with Patricia Freed, they married 2005 and welcomed his only child, a daughter, Sydney Lynn January 24,2007 who he cherished dearly.
Rene loved LIFE and having fun in life! He was energetic and lazy. He enjoyed biking, hiking, kayaking and all things outdoors with his beloved dog Ginger. He enjoyed relaxing! He did what he wanted and beat to his own drum. He lived on his terms and answered to no one. He was the epitome of adventure and leisure wrapped up into an honest, dedicated, loyal, loving, caring, happy and a humble human who will forever be missed by anyone who had the pleasure of calling him family, friend, coworker and even acquaintance. Ride with the wind Rene! Till we meet again.
