Reginald “Reggie” Don Prather, age 67, of Marion, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Mission Hospital’s Memorial Campus with his loving family by his side. Born in McDowell County, North Carolina on June 3, 1948, he was the son of the late John Lewis and Mildred Buchanan Prather.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Reggie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, cutting wood, and gardening. He attended Clinchfield Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, brother, Gene Prather; sister, Jill Prather; his twin brother, Roger Prather; and a special friend, Jack Surratt.
Reggie is survived by his wife, Marie Prather, of the home; one son, Scott Prather and wife Rebecca, of Raleigh; one daughter, Shelly Yates and husband Jason, of Marion; two step daughters, Mary Lee, of Marion and Rebecca Gallion, of Nebo; one brother, Jerry Prather and wife Barbara, of Morganton; three grandchildren, Carson Yates, Cross Yates, and Caroline Prather; and two step grandchildren, Jonathan Lee and Stephanie Brooks.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Prather will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Clinchfield Baptist Church with Revs. Terry Roach and Eddie Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
