Rebecca Ann Bailey Knupp, 93, of Old Fort, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.
Rebecca was born on April 3, 1929 to the late Joseph Grayson Bailey and Cassie Burgin Bailey in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Knupp; son John Wesley Knupp and a sister Louise Bauguess.
Rebecca was a home maker and a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a very active member of Mount Hebron Wesleyan Church where she taught countless children in Sunday School and Bible School and played the piano and organ. She was a certified Guardian ad Litem. Rebecca taught piano for many years and also worked for Knupp Construction. She enjoyed working the election polls for many years and was a proud member of the Republican party and the NRA. Rebecca carefully lived out a life of faith in God.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Riley and husband Aubrey of Boone, NC, Martha Pinner and husband Mike of Unicoi, TN; son David Knupp and wife Robin of Asheville, NC; daughter-in-law Wanda Knupp (Wesley) of Glen Alpine, NC; sister Dorothy Fender of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren, Chris Riley (Jenny) of Walnut Creek, CA, Jennifer Cockman (John) of Boone, NC, Erin Guy of Glen Alpine, NC, and Alex Knupp (Sarah) of Asheville, NC, and eleven great grandchildren.
A receiving of friends will be held at Mt. Hebron Wesleyan Church on Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
At Rebecca’s request a graveside service will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel on Wednesday February 8, 2023 at 12:00 pm with Dr. Mike Pinner officiating.
The family would like to say a special thank you to granddaughters Arwen Cockman and Lorien Cockman for their care for their grandmother. A special thanks also to Hospice for their kind care for Rebecca.
