Reba Jewel Scott McMahon, 96, of Ramseur, North Carolina and formerly of Marion, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Randolph Hospice House.
She was born in Yancey County on May 19, 1928 to the late Theodore “Joe Bill” Scott and Dora Elizabeth Buchanan Scott. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Ernest McMahon; her brother, Joel Scott and her son-in-law, Gary Smith.
Reba was a faithful Christian lady who loved her church family at Amity Hills Baptist Church in Asheboro. She was a hard worker who spent her whole life working in textiles. Reba was sweet, witty, and full of life. She had an incredible sense of humor, and she was always ready with a comeback.
She is survived by three children, Glenda Hensley, Bruce McMahan, and Barbara Smith; five grandchildren, Trever Hensley (Marissa), Joshua McMahon, Amber Fletcher (Brad), Steve Smith (Tammy), and Kevin Smith (Suzanne); three step-granddaughters, Denise Kern, Jennifer Kern (Charles Wernlund) and Amber K. Horne (Brandon); twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at McDowell Memorial Park with Pastor Tim Batten officiating.
