Ray "Dub" Wesley Connell, Jr.

Mr. Ray “Dub” Connell Jr., age 77, of Myrtle Beach, SC formerly of Marion, NC went to be with the Lord on Friday July 21, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Dub was born on June 11, 1940 to the late Ray Connell, Sr. and Myrtle Stallings Connell. He attended the Bethel Baptist Church. Dub was a retired machinist, retail manager and a veteran of the Army National Guard.

Retail Management brought Dub to Marion, NC, where he was introduced to his sweetheart, Phyllis, by her late Mother and her brother Tyson.

His brightest quality in life was being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. God and Family was of utmost importance to him. Although he will be greatly missed, his love for and service to God, which he displayed through his love for his family, is now being rewarded.

Dub was greeted by many loved ones that have gone on before him, including his Mother and Father, a sister Becky, and a grandson Caydon McKinney. 

Dub’s memory will be cherished by those surviving, his loving wife of 54 years Phyllis Laney Connell; three children, Joel Connell, husband to Robin of Sevierville, Melissa Connell McKinney wife to Mark of Marion, and Matt Connell husband to Richele of Boone; six grandsons, Jordan McKinney, Coleton McKinney, Dylan Connell, Blaine Connell, Zaden Connell and Coye Connell.

 A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday July 23, 2017 at the Bethel Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Jimmy Upton officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment with military honors will be held at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
