Randy Allen Gallion, aged 63, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, peacefully at home and surrounded by his family in Marion, NC. Randy was born in Marion to Roger and Katherine Gallion, and was the brother to Doug (Tony) Gallion. He married his wife of 30 years, Kelly Gedroic Gallion, in 1994, and together they had three children.
Randy worked in road construction for over 45 years and contributed much to the local infrastructure, including the Marion Bypass, which opened in 1990. Randy was an incredibly passionate and gifted musician and played several instruments from an early age. He formed the bluegrass band Ages Past in the early 1990s and performed at several regional festivals and events with the band as the guitarist and lead vocalist. He re-formed the band in 2020, and they resumed playing together for nearly four years. Randy was a loving and involved father and supported his children in every way imaginable, including dedicating much of his free time to coaching their baseball and softball teams. Above all else, he will be remembered as a devoted family man.
Randy is survived by his parents Roger and Katherine Gallion, his brother Doug (Tony) Gallion, his wife Kelly Gallion and her brother Glen Gedroic, his children: Kayla Gallion, Ryan Gallion, Nicole Gallion, Jeremy Bradford, and Jamie (Bruce) Frisbee, and a loving extended family who will cherish his memory as the strongest and most vibrant man they knew. A celebration of life is organized for those who wish to pay their respects. Details can be found on the Facebook page, “Randy Gallion’s Celebration of Life.”
