Rachel Elizabeth Hollifield

     Rachel Elizabeth Dellinger Hollifield, 85, of Marion, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022, at her residence.

     Rachel was born in Newland, NC on November 1, 1936, the youngest of five children, to the late Hobert Dellinger and Stella Watson Dellinger. She was a member of West Court Baptist Church and retired from Baxter Healthcare after many years of dedicated service. Rachel enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an excellent cook. She loved to laugh and was very kind and welcoming to all. Most of all, Rachel loved the Lord, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with all her heart. She will be greatly missed.

     In addition to her parents, Rachel is preceded in death by two sons, Paul Quintin Hollifield and James “Jim” Robert Hollifield, Jr.; two sisters; and two brothers.

     Those left to cherish her memory include four children, Pamela Franklin, Cheri Miller (Clyde), Mike Hollifield (Cheryl), and Tommy Hollifield; twelve grandchildren, Nic, Hobie, Rob, Teigen, Dustin, Paige, Billy, Michael, Jackie, Paul, Jr., Andy, and Alivia; and twenty two great grandchildren, Grace, Avery, Ellie, Elijah, Hunter, Natalee, Lakota, James, Jeremiah, Abby, Jack, Piper, Kiah, Emilie, Ruby, Lily, Nyasia, Kiley, Sam, Josie, Phillip, and Caitlyn.

     A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2022, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. Jeff Burchette will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.

     Memorial contributions may be made to McDowell Hospice or McDowell Senior Center.
