Rachel Stafford Heavener, age 69, of Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly of Marion NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13, 2016. A native of McDowell County, she was born on January 19, 1947 to the late Woodrow and Ruby Ferguson Stafford.
Rachel was a dedicated employee with Wachovia/Wells Fargo for twenty-five years and was a very active member of the Lakewood Pentecostal Church in Myrtle Beach. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.
Mrs. Heavener leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband of twelve years, David W. Heavener; two daughters, Angela Strickland (Wesley) of Marion, North Carolina and Janet Williamson (Ronnie) of Brunswick, Georgia; two step-daughters, Cali Dunn (John) of Wisconsin, and Tori Krofcheck (Adam) of Conway, South Carolina; two brothers, Baxter Stafford (Grace) and Tommy Stafford (Brenda), both of Marion. Also, surviving Rachel are three grandchildren, Christopher Adams, Hannah Strickland and Kristie Williamson; five step-grandchildren, Taylor Krofcheck, Kailey Krofcheck, Emma Dunn, Brooke Dunn and Evey Dunn; and one great-grandchild, Karson Wyrick. Her three canines, Gracie, Bubba and Izzy also survive.
A funeral service to celebrate Rachel’s life will take place Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Clinchfield Presbyterian Church, where she was a former member, with Reverend Laura Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
