Phyllis Hammond Biggerstaff, age 76, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, September 06, 2016 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville. The daughter of the late L.E. Hammond and Thelma Birchfield Hammond, Phyllis was born in Kingsport, Tennessee on June 06, 1940
A member of Story Memorial Presbyterian Church, Phyllis enjoyed meeting with the circle group on Thursday nights at the church, but most of all, she loved spending time and traveling to the beach with her family, especially her precious grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. “Tommy” Biggerstaff, who passed away June 21, 2003; two brothers, Larry and Dale Hammond.
She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Biggerstaff Elliott and her husband, David; one brother, Nick Hammond and his wife, Sarah; one sister, Teresa Culbertson and her husband, Steve; and three grandchildren, Megan, Natalie and Christian Elliott.
A funeral service to honor the life of Phyllis will be held on Friday, September 09, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Story Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Matt Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
A private interment will be held at Eternal Hill Memorial Park in Forest City.
