Shortly after midnight on Thursday, May 25, 2017, Penny Greene Coleman, age 55, of Marion, while surrounded by her family, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born November 08, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Mary Gouge Greene.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Joy Biggerstaff; and one son, Jonathan Coleman.
A member of Grandview Baptist Church, she had worked at Autumn Care of Marion where she was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). In her spare time, she enjoyed to cook for her family and friends. Penny, who never met a stranger, was well loved by all who knew her.
Penny is survived by one son, Nathan Coleman and his wife, Misty of Marion; five siblings, Amanda Shelton and her husband, J.C. of Sugar Hill, Martha Thomas and her husband, David of Marion, Kathy Braswell and her husband, Doug of Nebo, Rose Chadwick and her husband, Bob of Nebo, and David Greene and his wife, Karen of Marion. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Payton and Savannah Coleman; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Grandview Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Dicks and Rev. Dennis Love officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
A private interment will be held at McDowell Memorial Park.
