Peggy Yoder Brittain, age 74, of Marion, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Mission Hospital’s Memorial Campus in Asheville. Born in Catawba County, North Carolina on July 21, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John Yoder and Ruth McKinney.
A loving, great and strong “Maw Maw”, Peggy loved to do word searches and enjoyed listening to bluegrass music with her late husband, Bobby Brittain A member of Ashworth Road Baptist Church, Miss Peggy had worked at Broyhill until it closed.
She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Ray, Gwen McCarson and Libby Cox (Pete); three brothers, Ralph McKinney (Wilma), John Yoder (Lola); and Wesley McKinney (Joan); and one sister, Kathy Hudgins. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jamie Pitts (Nickouls), CJ Fulcher, Jonathan McCarson, Kasey Cox, Danielle Cox; and two special granddaughters, Jessie Chapman and Courtney Marlow; ten great grandchildren; special friend, Duck Murphy; and a special canine, “Seabass”.
A funeral service will be held Monday, July 03, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Jimmy Upton officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
