Paxton Ray Johnson “Packy”, age 56, of Marion, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 06, 2021 at his residence with his loved ones at his side. The son of Donald and Sue Johnson of Marion, he was born in Maryville, Tennessee on April 10, 1964.
Packy, although he was 56 years of age, had the mind of a child. He loved coloring and writing in his book, breaking sticks and tossing them into the yard, and taking a tennis racket and hitting rocks. Known as a sweet and loving person with a big heart, Packy enjoyed listening to his favorite song, “These Boots are Made for Walking” by Nancy Sinatra. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Packy is survived by three brothers, Randy Johnson (Revonda), Lloyd Johnson (Helen) and Donald Johnson (Dawn); one sister, Carolyn Carver (Mike); numerous nieces and nephews; and last but not least, his chihuahua canine companion, “Peanut” who was by his side during his final journey.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Charity Mission Church with Rev. Dennis Hensley and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
