Paul David Smith, went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2025, at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville. Born on October 26, 1971, in McDowell County, David led a life characterized by his unwavering strength, dedication to family, and passion for sports.
David worked for many years at Auria, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. He was not only dedicated to his profession but also to his faith, being an active member of the Lackey Town Missionary Baptist Church. David's love for sports, particularly drag racing, brought him joy and camaraderie with friends and family.
His bravery was evident as he faced his illness without complaint, demonstrating a remarkable spirit throughout his challenges. David was a loving son, father, grandfather, and brother, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Carolyn Davis Smith; his children, Joshua Paul Smith (Lizzie), Alexandria Powers (Jordan), Spencer Bradley, and Daniel Bradley; and his cherished grandchildren, Fabian, Gabriel, Natalie, Colby, Paislee, Avery, Weston, and Makenna. Paul also leaves behind his siblings, Marie Brown (Jeff), Marsha Smith, Margie Edwards (David), and Todd Smith (Eva).
David joins in eternal rest his beloved wife, Paula Fortner Smith, and his father, Paul Avery Smith, both of whom precede him.
The community is invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Beam Celebration Center in Marion, North Carolina, on March 10, 2025, from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Rev. David Edwards and Rev. Jeffrey Parker will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Youngs Chapel FWB Church Cemetery in Yancey County.
Paul David Smith will be deeply missed, but his memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
